Parent Partnership
It is our policy to work closely with parents in order to share information about their child’s ongoing interests, celebrate their achievements and identify their next steps in learning. Parents are children’s first educators and research shows that young children’s intellectual development is greater when parents are involved in their children’s learning. Parents share information when they fill in the children’s entry profile with their child’s key person, and this forms the basis for planning for the child’s interests. Parents have access to their child’s records at any time and will be invited to meet with the child’s key person on a regular basis, in some cases termly. The process of settling the child into the centre is a very important one and is agreed with the parent in order to meet the needs of each child. A parent/carer and toddler group meets in Mountain Room twice a week for children who have not yet started at the centre. Here children are introduced to some of the activities that they will experience when they start at the centre, as well as becoming familiar with the building.
Staff are committed to sharing their expertise and understanding of the curriculum with parents and carers in a variety of ways during a child’s time at the centre.
We value the contribution of all of our parents and carers and hold regular coffee mornings on the first Wednesday of every month, to gather and exchange views and suggestions as well as share any information we believe is important to assist your child's learning experience. In addition, the Family Services Committee meets once per term and parents are welcome to attend and share their opinions about the services being delivered or contact one of our Parent Governors to represent their views at those meetings. You can contact governors via the office email address on the 'Contact Us' page. Minutes of Governing Body meetings will be published on this site and are available at the office at any time.
Parents are represented on the Governing Body by five parent governors.
